Sunday 13th September 2015 vs Ickenham C.C.

Home team too strong for Washington despite Harper century

Ickenham C.C. 282/1
Washington C.C. 249

The Washington turned up this year hopeful of another flat-out slug-fest. What they got was a lesson in powerful batting. Having won the toss on a superb deck, one of the best you can come across at this level of cricket, Ickenham elected to bat. And bat they did. The slightest error was punished severely as the home side built a massive total. When the first wicket fell at 94, it was met with great relief. Unfortunately it was the only wicket to fall, as the home side piled on another 188 runs, with two flawless centuries scored by Stoneman and Wilshire.

In reply, the Washington lost wickets at regular intervals until Tom and Aff came together to score 109 runs together. Unfortunately Aff was dismissed stumped with the score on 159, although Tom batted on bravely for a superb 108. Klossy and Tobes offered some resistance, but with the Wash slipping well behind the run rate the final result was inevitable.
