Ash Cruickshank reporting. On Saturday the Washington played and lost to Ploughman's CC in a very one-sided affair at Gunnersbury Park. This was the first meeting between the sides since 2002. Any loose bowling was savagely dispatched (usually at least one full toss per over), and there were also plenty of errors in the field, the Wash conceding 249 in 40 overs. Then the Wash batting crumbled in the face of a reasonably gentle but accurate bowling attack. All in all we enjoyed the weather and some cold beers with the opposition after the game, with a few more at the Washington afterwards. It was agreed that the sides should meet again, and I for one am certain we will be much more competitive next time. Highlights included: Adam Smallwood's first game for the Wash (and first game in some years) which included getting some runs, Dominic Butcher's first game back since 2009 and Andrew Crook's cap being awarded for 5 games in the season.
