Tilford CC batted first on a fine wicket in this idyllic village green setting with the topsy turvey outfield, declaring on 234 runs for the loss of 7 wickets,a fine 100 from Martin Price the centre piece.All the Wash bowlers returned creditable figures. The weather continued to shine on the Wash when captain David Gluckman asked Dale Bracegirdle and Grant McDonald to open their innings. Early on some lusty blows from both openers set the Wash on the road to victory,however Grant McDonald retired hurt with a calf injury which brought Mark Wittet to the crease. Wittet struggled to get his innings going,all the while Bracegirdle was accumulating stylish runs. When Wittet was out the Wash required 160 runs off 20 overs to win.Paul Irons walked purposefully to the crease and proceeded to play the most destructive innings,scoring 50 runs off 20 balls,all the while Bracegidle was accumulating stylish runs. Paul Irons continued to take the attack to the Tilford bowlers, with Bracegirdle joining in the dissection the Wash now needed 10 runs to win with 11 overs to go and Bracegirdle requiring 4 runs for back to back centuries on the weekend. Dale Bracegirdle duly completed his century steering the Wash to victory, finally finishing on 104 not out,an achievement rarely seen in any form of cricket. A truly successful tour for the Washington.
