Sunday 9th September 2001 vs Pacific C.C.

Masterful Minion

Pacific C.C. 96 all out
Washington C.C. 100 for 9

Another close game saw Washington claim an exciting victory in a bowler dominated low scoring game, with local rivals Pacific.
Washington won the toss and elected to field. Once more the Wood and Minion opening bowling attack proved to be awesome. Wood passed fifty wickets for the season with his second wicket before finishing with 3 for 18 and Minion who was the first bowler to take five wickets this year (5-20) had Pacific under the cosh and restricted them to just 24 runs from the first 22 overs with the loss of five wickets. Davis, luckily dropped first ball off Wood, held the middle order together with 21 before Minion bowled him with a beautiful inswinging yorker.
Only Booneart coming in at number 10 saved Pacific from an even lower score by hitting a very good 26 not out, but this only increased the score to 96 all out.
