It was a beautiful day late in the season at Wray Crescent. Not a cloud in the sky, perfect boating weather. Or so we thought. The Washington won the toss and elected to bat on a fast but true Wray Crescent artificial wicket. Early doors, the ever versitile Peter Kloss, opening the batting with Clint, set off for a run, but collapsed as his Achilles tendon gave way following years of abuse. Quick thinking by the lads saw him delivered to the Whittington hospital where he was operated on the next day. The Wash carried on a man down but trouble struck repeatedly as the top order gave way much like the tendon we had witnessed earlier in the day. The only resistance came from Clint with another superb half century, and Luke who was testing out his theories on the draw-loss concept. The Wash managed to bat all but one ball of their innings, but only 98 was scored. Credit to the Pacific for their relentlessly accurate bowling. Tom Ireland should have got more than 1 wicket - his figures were 7-3-5-1. In reply the Wash were not able to contain the Pacific, although Aditya Padale did well in his second game to record 5-2-10-1. Clearly this was a disappointing display, but our hearts really go out to the indefagitable Klossy, who picked up a very nasty injury and was unable to take part in the French Riviera tour the following week.
